2. Principles
Campaigns must be:
- Lawful
- Evidence-driven
- Transparent
- Focused on raising standards, not focused on individuals
- For the benefit of the public, not members
3. Forms of Ethical Consumer Mobilisation
- Boycotts
- Letters to platforms
- Public-interest petitions
- Consumer pledges
- Awareness-raising campaigns
- Standards-improvement proposals
Each must be grounded in:
- Evidence
- Research
- Clear community benefit
- Respectful tone
4. What Ethical Consumer Campaigns Are Not
Touch Paper does not engage in:
- Direct action
- Civil disobedience
- Occupations, blockades or disruption
- Harassment of journalists or media workers
- Partisan political campaigns
Such activities will not be conducted in Touch Paper’s name.
5. Approvals Process
All campaigns must:
- Include a research summary
- State intended community benefit
- Be reviewed by the Management Committee
- Be democratically prioritised by members when appropriate
- Be publicly transparent
