Membership Rules


2.1 Eligibility

Membership is open to individuals (16+) and organisations who:

  • Support the Objects of the Society
  • Agree to uphold co-operative values
  • Pay the annual membership subscription set by the Society

No community shares will be issued.


2.2 Voting and Governance

  • Each member has one vote, regardless of subscription level.
  • Members may stand for election to the Board.
  • Members may submit motions and participate in democratic decision-making about campaign priorities.

2.3 Member Rights

Members may:

  • Receive newsletters and reports
  • Attend an AGM and other meetings
  • Participate in training events or public forums (events generally open to non-members too)
  • Engage in union decision-making

2.4 Member Responsibilities

Members shall:

  • Act in support of the Society’s public-benefit purpose
  • Behave in accordance with co-operative values
  • Not seek personal or financial gain from membership

2.5 Termination

Membership may be terminated by the Management Committee if a member:

  • Acts materially against the Society’s purpose
  • Causes serious detriment to the Society
  • Fails to pay membership subscription

A fair and transparent appeals process will be provided.
